If Cavinti, Laguna has the Pagsanjan Falls, Majayjay has the Taytay Falls. Others call it the Majayjay Falls or even Imelda Falls, because ex-First Lady Imelda Marcos financed the promotion of tourism in this place. It is a two-storey high falls located in a remote scenery where the forestry is abundant. To reach Taytay Falls, one has to go down the stone steps leading to a kilometer-long trail. Constructed in 2008, during the past, reaching Taytay Falls is a very hard task, as there were no marked trails during that time. Recently, the World Bank has sponsored the promotion of tourism in Taytay Falls.

Before the Spaniards came, Paete was said to be a peaceful barangay under Gat Lacampauid. The Spanish friars had a tradition of naming towns they built in honor of saints. Paete was an exception. Legend has it that there was once a young Franciscan priest who was tasked by his superior to visit their newly-founded settlements alongside Laguna de Bay. The priest knew little about the terrain so he asked a native the name of the place. The latter misinterpreted the young friar, thinking that the former wanted to know the name of the tool he was using. He answered, Paét (chisel) --thus, the name Paete.
Iglesia ni Kristo

Iglesia ni Cristo church buildings, referred to as kapilya (Tagalog for chapel), which serve as places of worship and other religious functions, are "vehicles for glorifying God." These are described by Culture and customs of the Philippines, a book published by Greenwood Publishing Group, as structures "which employ exterior neo-Gothic vertical support columns with tall narrow windows between, interlocking trapezoids, and rosette motifs, as well as tower and spires."
There are separate entrances for men and women who sit on either side of the aisle facing a dais where the Bible is located and sermons are made. A stage for the choir and, in larger churches, baptistry pools for immersion baptism are located at the back of the church. Meanwhile, Fernando Nakpil-Zialcita, an anthropologist from Ateneo de Manila University, said that INC churches can be uniquely identified for "its exuberant use of fanciful forms and ornaments [and a] brilliant white facade whose silhouette is a cusped Gothic arch or a flattened Saracenic arch." The distinctive spires represent "the reaching out of the faithful to God." Churches were started to be built in this style during the late 1940s and early 1950s with the first concrete chapel built in Sampaloc, Manila in 1948

Dr. Macrina Zafaralla, a professor of environmental science at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños, said water hyacinth can be used as a biological filter in water treatment schemes.
“Thick mats of water hyacinth are useful for cleaning polluted bodies of water of heavy metals,” Zafaralla said.
Bamboo, on the other hand, will serve as the barrier so that the water hyacinth mats will not move, she added.
“We can also do this in cleaning the Pasig River,” she said, adding that the system is also being utilized in China and Japan.
Zafaralla has led the team that successfully revived the polluted Molawin creek in Los Baños, Laguna using the technology.
